Precision redefined
Customer required a cable solution to rewire an extremely old (pre-1965) BBC HF Relay station originally manufactured by Marconi and operating from Ascension Island.
The solution
Following detailed discussions with the telecommunication engineers a thorough understanding of all requirements was established as no suitable documentation available. The cable had to meet stringent high voltage and high amp requirements as the transmitter was part of a worldwide transmission network.
From emailed photos and sketch drawings of the existing cable the design team came up with a detailed data sheet which was sent to the customer. Final design changes were agreed and a replacement cable built and shipped. BBC World Service continues to be relayed via Ascension Island.
